About Naturally Nourished Nomad

Welcome—I'm Cheryl Bryson.
I’m a Clinical Nutritionist and Integrative Medicine Practitioner, and the founder of Naturally Nourished Nomad — a health and wellness practice dedicated to empowering you to take charge of your health and wellbeing so you can live your fullest life.

Having experienced my own complex health challenges, including hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (hEDS) and its co-conditions, I understand the layered reality of living with a chronic condition. This lived experience has shaped both my empathy and my commitment to providing person-centred, evidence-based, and integrative care that supports the whole person—not just the diagnosis.

I hold a Bachelor of Health Science (Nutritional and Dietetic Medicine) and a Master of Integrative Medicine. I draw from and utilise both conventional and more integrative nutrition, dietetics, and lifestyle (movement, meditation, sleep, stress resilience) medicine practices. I am well-versed in pharmacology and traditional and functional pathology testing, a factor that comes in handy with hormone, gut, metabolic, neurological, psychological, and immune disturbances.

Indeed, my passions lie in psychoneuroimmunoendocrinology – a field of health science that understands the multidirectional links between all these systems and appreciates the roles of genes, gut health, and life stages in health and disease.

Within this framework, I have a particular focus on supporting women through perimenopause and menopause—helping them navigate the hormonal, metabolic, and emotional transitions that shape this powerful stage of life. I’m passionate about helping women reclaim vitality, balance, and a renewed sense of self during this time.

I also work with people navigating the postpartum period and those experiencing an intertwining of gut, hormone, and metabolic challenges, as well as resistant weight loss, stressful life periods, disordered eating, and/or the complexities of chronic health conditions, including autoimmune, complex pain, and connective tissue disorders.

While I use gendered terms here, my practice is an inclusive space that welcomes individuals of all genders and identities. I firmly practice trauma-informed, neuroaffirming care.

Research

Beyond clinical work, I’m deeply committed to education and research in integrative health and am available for writing, speaking, and academic collaborations that align with advancing holistic, evidence-informed care.

My most recent peer-reviewed publication explores Withania somnifera (Ashwagandha) as a botanical support for women’s wellbeing through perimenopause.
Featured in the Australian Journal of Herbal and Naturopathic Medicine (Sep, 2025)—you can view it here.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a diagnosis before booking?
Not at all. Many people come to see me because they’re experiencing ongoing or complex symptoms and are looking for a more integrated understanding of what may be contributing to them.

Do you work specifically with perimenopause?
Yes. Supporting women through perimenopause is a significant focus of my clinical and research work.
I work with the broader hormonal, metabolic, neurological and inflammatory changes that can occur during this transition, including symptoms such as mood changes, fatigue, sleep disruption, weight and metabolic shifts, cognitive changes, digestive symptoms, pain flares and nervous system stress.

I’m particularly interested in how perimenopause interacts with existing or overlapping health conditions, including PMDD, PCOS, endometriosis, hEDS, MCAS, chronic inflammation and complex multisystem presentations.

Do you work with Hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (hEDS) and hypermobility spectrum disorders (HSD)?
Yes. Hypermobility-related conditions, including hEDS and HSD, are a key focus in my practice.

I understand hEDS as a complex multisystem condition that can influence and intersect with areas such as gut health, nervous system regulation, immune function, hormonal health, pain, fatigue and broader inflammatory presentations.
Alongside clinical practice, I remain actively engaged in ongoing education and emerging research in this space, including involvement with EDS ECHO educational initiatives focused on hypermobility and Ehlers-Danlos syndromes.
I also bring lived experience of hEDS and related co-conditions, which has deeply shaped my understanding of the day-to-day realities and variability these conditions can involve.

Do you work alongside other healthcare practitioners?
Yes. I often work alongside GPs, specialists, psychologists, physiotherapists and other healthcare providers as part of collaborative care. In fact, I encourage it.

Is your approach evidence-based?
Yes. My work combines evidence-informed nutrition and lifestyle medicine with ongoing engagement in emerging research across integrative and chronic healthcare.

What does trauma-informed and neuroaffirming care mean?

It means creating a space that recognises the impact of stress, trauma, neurodivergence and lived experience on health and healthcare interactions. Care is collaborative, respectful, flexible and tailored to the individual rather than based on rigid assumptions or one-size-fits-all approaches.

Do you offer online consultations?
Yes, telehealth consultations are available online for clients across Australia.

Will I need extensive testing or restrictive protocols?
Not necessarily. Recommendations are always individualised, clinically considered and guided by what is realistic, appropriate and likely to be useful for you.
